Unified CPN (Maoist) has asked CPN (UML) to support for a national consensus government under the leadership of the Maoists.

Maoists asked UML to support them for a government under their leadership saying UCPN (Maoist) is the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) at a meeting between the leaders of the two parties at Nayabazaar, Saturday morning.

The Maoists asked the UML to support a government under their leadership without conditions.

However, UML refused the Maoist plea saying the Maoists should implement the past agreements to claim the government leadership.

UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said, a Maoist-led government cannot be formed at present condition as the Maoists were yet to implement their commitments to the peace process.

UML leaders asked the Maoists to implement their commitment to peace process expressed in the first point in the three-point agreement signed among the parties on May 28 as the other two points had already been implemented.
